Life Lately… October 2025

Life has been busy, hectic, chaotic and full of lessons learned.

Even in the chaos I managed to get out in Nature and catch some fish. However, making art, for the most part had illuded me the past month. Anyone who reads my articles knows that there hasn’t been an article in some time now.

The truth is I have just been in a funk. Moving abruptly threw a wrench in things. Slowly unpacking as I find time. Yeah, it also goes to show how little we actually need versus how much we have. There is tons of stuff I still haven’t needed even a month later.

So what do you do once you realize you are in a funk? When you realize you haven’t been shirking your responsibilities and avoiding your hobbies that usually make you happy.

Go back to the basic building blocks. For me they are pretty simple, and even with how simple they can be, I still forget to practice at times.

They are know to me as The Pillars of Health and Healing. Which is a list of practices that I found most beneficial to help me be more the person I want to be. Eventually I will release my whole article on just that, but for now, I shall introduce them.

Before I do that though, I want to share some of the sings I saw in myself that made me aware that I couldn’t stay in this lull. No particular order, but I stopped talking to my friends, I just wanted to sleep a lot, wasn’t going on walks, wasn’t stretching or working out, wasn’t going out in Nature, wasn’t eating wise if eating much at all. Most days circling in my head.

After feeling like crap for several days in a row, I realized enough is enough and action is the only way forward. Bringing me back to the basics.

-Sunshine and Fresh Air

-Meditation and Breathing

-Nutrition and Hydration

-Movement and Mobility

-Sleep and Schedule

-Connection and Creation

-Mother Nature

Time and time again when I stray from feeling how I want, this list gives me guidance and focus. They are all pretty simple.

The first spot I took action on was using my light lamp since it has been overcast and darker out. That helps to boost my mood, especially when I am going to work inside for 9 hours a day.

Next was going on walks and breathing the fresh cool crisp Autumn air. Then working out with kettlebells. Sleeping on a schedule and not letting myself snooze. Texting and reaching out to friends and family. Focusing on making art again. Most importantly getting into Nature to hike and fish.

The trees speak for themselves. Breath taking colors. The largemouth were cooperating which was nice. The spinner bait and flat sided crankbait got it done. Even the fish I caught a few weeks ago on the river were on a spinner bait and a crankbait. Moving baits get it done in these cooler water temps!

Other observations in Nature. The deer, turkey, squirrels, and birds are feeding like crazy! Getting ready for winter. We had our first frost last week, that is a big sign of the cooler weather to come.

That’s all I got for now. That’s the gist of what’s been going on.
