Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

My Grandmother passed away at 92 years old. We all knew this was coming soon. A certain peace came over me upon hearing the news. It did not feel like when my other grandparents or stepfather passed.

Wednesday;

Millers Thumb!

Fished Devil’s Hole with Noah and Tony from Massachusetts. We met back in January on their first trip to Western New York.

Something told me to chat with them. Glad I did! We fished together a lot that first week and a lot this past week.

Fishing has lead me to meet some pretty awesome people.

Saw many juvenile Longtail Ducks!

Learned the benefits of using a slip float rig.

Thursday;

Back to Miller’s for more art!

Then hit old dirty Burt with Noah and Tony. They both had success prior to me showing up. Noah then caught a Steelhead and Brown on the pink Steely jigs I just tied up!

Friday;

Met Noah on the Lower for a bit. No such luck.

Saturday;

Spent the day fishing the Lower with Tony and Noah. A long day, thankfully Tony landed a beautiful Laker!

Fishing with these guys showed me an aspect of my old self that I have gotten away from. That being the dedicated confident angler. My attitude and perspective to trout fishing has been low the last few years, I mean not catching a Steelhead for four years?!

Looking back, my perspective had a lot to do with my lack of fish. Not seeing things in a different way, going against “what worked in the past”- it has taught me a lot.

Soon an article will drop where I will expand more on the work and rewards of steelhead fishing.

Ended the day getting some chicken wings at Duffs. Steelhead, Lake Trout, Brown Trout, Lower Niagara River, Duff’s? Sounds like a well spent trip in Western New York.

Sunday;

A very hazy day. Woke up wandered to Miller’s. Amazing how a place can offer so much comfort.
