Weekly Recap; 11/17/25-11/23/25

Howdy everyone! Happy to be reporting with some good news. It has been a pretty good week. Even got out fishing thrice!

One fish was caught in the making of this week, but a lot was learned, and I got to target fish with the fly rod, spinners, float fishing, and ultralight gear. It felt nice to be in touch with all the different ways of fishing, as well as knowing that I do know how to catch fish on all of them.

For those who have not read or heard on the podcast before, my last steelhead was caught in… 2022. It has been a long dry spell. Honestly I can’t seem to really get my hands on much of anything other than largemouth lately.

Regardless, always learning and growing. The day of Ultralight fishing, I made a video that is now up on my YouTube channel! It goes over all the gear I used and what I carry when fishing from the shore or wading.

When not in the water this week, I was creating and crafting. Below are photos of my favorite creations! The NEW JDO Co beanies will be available on the website soon! Fitted with a custom leather patch I made and stitched on by hand. Also the ‘Nomadic at Heart’ shirts that are on my site now. Perfect gift ideas for your outdoorsman or outdoorswoman!

Tied many flies up this week too! Not going off any patterns but rather just creating what came to mind. Who knows, some of em might just work on the right fish.

Here is a rant… one I’ve probably spouted about before. PICK OF YOUR TRASH!!! The one photo below shows you all the trash I picked up on the Lower River this past Friday. The wild part is not an ounce of it was produced by me.

That whole net full of trash is from Anglers fishing and being disrespectful. If you tie on a new lure, put the plastic packaging in your backpack to properly dispose of, same goes with if you have to cut off a bunch of line!

Worst of all… if you are drinking Tim Hortons or Budlight, pack out what you pack in! Nobody wants to look at someone else’s trash. Besides the fact that it is getting washed in the water, it looks like crap, provides a horrible image of one of our best water ways.

I am not usually a very spiteful person, but I can say that I would gladly like to throw that trash in the living rooms of whoever produced it and see how they react! There are other people who frequent there and recreate. Have some respect and take care of what we were given, once it is gone, it’s gone.
