Life sure likes to keep you on your toes. This last week was no different. I won’t get into it too much, but I went into work Monday and got laid off. Then the next day I started to feel under the weather. Which then lead to being sick the rest of the week.
I can’t say it has all been enjoyable, but also not unbearable either. This is now the second time this year I’ve gotten sick and haven’t not used any antibiotics or medication to get past it. The only things I used were fasting, hydration, movement, vitamins/supplements, herbs and of course rest.
As I have been going through it, I kept asking myself, “Why do we feel like we need to rid sickness right away? Maybe there is something to be learned here, there is a reason it is happening.”
While texting with my buddy Ed I stumbled into this idea… “This is part of the process and the journey. Learning to honor the time I need to heal and also realize I am capable of more than I think when I am sick.”
It one week gone and plenty more good ones ahead. Regardless of how I was feeling, I still did get some cool projects done.
The first was the JD Outdoors tote bag! Made of 100% cotton, dyed with black walnuts, and finished with a custom leather patch! Let me know what you think! (Pictured below) I’d like to have some available for the holiday season ahead.
Beyond that I tied more flies than I have in months prior. The two patterns I did I am happy with. Especially the bright pink streamer! (also shown below and available for sale in my store shop)
Another big win, was working on one of my favorite Brown Trout pieces to date. It is mixed media; water color and colored pencils. For the reference I actually used two different browns I caught on the same day and melded them together.
The wind really did a number on the leaves this past week, as did the snow and cold. Regardless, it left some cool scenery behind, as the change of seasons always does.
Song of the week;
Promise by Slash (feat. Chris Cornell)
Episode 128 of the Two Angles on Angling podcast is up on our YouTube channel.
Tight lines and I’ll catch ya later!
Here’s to a better week and all
