Rainbow Trout Run

My brother and I went down to Pennsylvania to visit my Mom, and with that an opportunity to fish. So naturally, I took advantage of that. I got onto the water pretty late, around noon. Upon arriving in the lot I saw many trucks which meant many anglers.

The water seemed a tad high but it was a great color. My approach was to throw the Wooly Bugger for a reaction bite. Pretty soon I decided to switch to the Nymph rig for a bit. After thirty minutes with no action, I switched up flies which ended up being clutch.

Halfway through the day I got a solid bite and ripped the hook. Had a nice fight and a solid reminder of what it is like catching a fish, on the fly nonetheless. This fish ate the dropper nymph.

After being blessed with that catch, of course in perfect timing, a Bald Eagle flew overhead. I kept hitting that run, one step at a time, one drift at a time, picking it apart as much as possible, walking up. Once I got to the top of the run I worked it back down with the streamer and back up again with the nymph. Nothing else took.

It was raining on and off throughout the valley and after an hour of that the flow started rising. Hoping to get on the water tomorrow too and see what we can do with hopefully less angling pressure and better water conditions.

Regardless it was nice to shake of the rust fly fishing, catch a nice Rainbow and see a Bald Eagle.
