"I Remember Buffalo..."

Here is a more creative blog compared to those lately. It will also be a bit of rambling and reminiscing on adventure.
Those who have been following my journey know that I ventured to Montana this past summer and on the journey saw my first Bison. That was a very impactful moment and memory. It has prompted me to pay respect to this beautiful creature through my art.
The colored pencil piece down below is not fully completely finished, but once done it will be in the website gallery.
So the reason I am writing this is to tie in another connection, that being The Tragically Hip. As the title of the article says, "I remember Buffalo..." which is a quote from 'At the Hundredth Meridian' off the album Fully Completely. Highly recommend listening to both that album and the song.
The influence for the Raven at the top of the piece is from a few quotes. One from the same song, "a Raven strays along the side of the road..." as well as Gord Downie and Bob Rock song called 'The Raven And The Red-Tailed Hawk' of the album Lustre Parfait. Also recommend all of that album!
"At the hundredth meridian where the Great Plains begin" and this Bison is heading West (the view is looking South) through the plains and moving towards the Black Hills in South Dakota with the sun getting close to setting over them. This is a similar experience to when I first saw a Bison.
Go check out my Gallery for some of the photos I took that day. In one day I saw the Badlands and the Black Hills. It was such a strange experience to see the landscape so much from rocky structures to rolling plains to hills of dark pine.
Thank you for reading this, enjoy the story, art and music. It all ties together and paints a bigger picture.
