It was a jam packed week! Sadly, not with fishing.
The colors are Fall are starting to show. One leaf at a time turning colors, falling in the breeze and turning crispy on the ground, eventually to decompose.
Various mediums utilized this week for my artwork. Including charcoal pencils and pastels. The former of the two, it has been years since I have worked with it, the later has become one of my favorite techniques. The way they blend and melt is satisfying and beautiful.
The content of my work changes as the year evolves. Currently leaves and trees are on the mind. Well, so are Salmon, Steelhead, Lakers and Brown Trout. Really hoping to catch my first steelhead in the last three years. As well as catching a Lake Trout with a nice orange belly. Always eager for more reference photos.
Another thing I am looking forward to is changing over my wardrobe to my Fall/Winter clothes; flannels, wool sweaters and heavy socks. Can't wait, well I can and will. That is one of the nice aspects of living in Western New York, the 'Change of Seasons' (also an amazing song by Matthew Good)
Over the last several years I have realized that my clothing offers an opportunity to express my artistic eye. So, I have been slowly building my seasonal arsenal with colors to match what is going on around us in Nature; oranges in Fall, blues and grays in Winter, pastels in Spring and yellows in Summer.
Something else amazing about this time of year, the clouds! With storms passing through more frequently this time of year, that brings wild cloud formations as well as awesome sunrises and sunsets. With the Full Moon that just happened too, we have had some amazing night skies.
Saturday;
Kaleo Concert! If you have not heard of this band, go check them out! They have three albums out and they are all super solid.
Song of the week;
Lonely Cowboy by Kaleo
I feel it paints a really good picture, the song has inspired me for a past work or two, and perhaps one will be coming up soon that creates the scene as I see it in my minds eye. The song does a great job of telling the life of a Lonely Cowboy, sitting by the fire, smoking and telling stories. Please, check it out and enjoy.
Episode 121 of the Two Angles on Angling Podcast is up on YouTube!
It is amazing to say that we have been doing the podcast for almost three years! January 16th of this year will be the official anniversary.
Truly, I am honored and flattered that people take the time to read my articles. This is just one aspect of how I express myself. Some weeks, I have a lot to say and can't seem to stop typing, others it is a struggle to get words out, but that is why I keep writing. Constant reps, that is the same for my art, even if it is a smaller doodle or drawing, it is still compounding interest, making the next work even better.
Tight lines and l will catch ya soon!
