Radio Silence.
Yeah, mental struggles certainly. At the same token, it is not easy work to ask yourself hard questions, and to look your fears (demons) in the eye and acknowledge them.
People love to give unsolicited advice. Many have said to me, something like, “What is your next step? Are you getting a job?” and the answer to that is not straight forward.
To be honest, I have no solid view of what lies ahead, but who really does? All I know is that I have been working on building my own skill sets and my own business.
I don’t care that others think I need to go back to school, get a degree and become a whatever. Nope, not for me. Yeah, I do inflict a lot of my own struggles because of my one track mind. Difficulty seeing things differently than how I want to see them.
Nobody needs to understand, because I know. What do I know? That all this is happening for a reason, I don’t see or understand right now, but years from now, looking back I will.
With that being said, I have been silent because there is a level of losing steam that happens every time we share our plans or even sometimes our thoughts or something we have made.
“But what will be your career? How will you make a living?” Ummmm, by following what I am drawn to pursue. Even if I do know, I do not have to share with you.
The big thing is how different the world is. Older generations seem to think that since I am not going the “normal” route that there is something wrong with that… good. The fact that you don’t understand means I am doing something against the grain.
There is so much distraction in this world. Yeah the world keeps progressing, and it will. Regardless, I don’t care for it. Perhaps the one of the best acts of rebellion, is to not indulge in the maniacal world.
Chase the light wherver you may find it. Do not be afraid to fail or try something new. The fear that is fed to us “well you can’t just start a whole new career path” - why not? Because we limit ourselves and others by saying ridiculous nonsense like that statement above.
Guess what is stopping us? Ourselves and believing what others say.
Also, be comfortable knowing most won’t understand you. Then the small percent of people who do, they are your tribe.
On a more grounded note; fishing, or lack there of. This upcoming week February 19-22nd is the Greater Niagara Fishing Expo. It is the fourth year in a row that I will be there representing
JD Outdoors Co. as well as doing presentations and seminars.
This year I am booth number 102!!!
Selling lures out the wazoo! A bit of everything to target almost every species in Western NY!
There will also be a selection of stickers and original artwork for sale.
Out of the last three months, a good chunk of times has been put towards tying and prepping for the fishing show. Dozens of hair jigs, in various sizes and colors. Dozens of flies, in various styles. Along with all the jig heads, spinnerbaits and bladed jigs!
Keep your eyes out for the SALE section at the JDO booth! New and used tackle for a great price!
On another note, the time spent outdoors has been crucial. It has been a struggle to get motivated to go out somedays and walk in the freezing temps, winds and snow. The reward feels great though.
These walks have provided lots of perfect pictures. So, to end this article on a positive note, enjoy the photo selection below.
Sneak peek at some lures that will be available at the show!
See ya in the woods or on the water.
